This position is responsible for supporting environmental regulatory compliance for Delta Western Petroleum which includes planning and implementing environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations. This position may be required to fulfill the role of designated Qualified Individual (QI) for spill response.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
Develops and implements environmental programs, including, but not limited to, air quality, water, waste, hazardous chemicals, due diligent, underground storage tanks, spill prevention and response, and contaminated sites.
Engages within the environmental department and operations team in a positive way to continue to develop best practices in environmental compliance.
Effectively communicates with agency personnel, industry colleagues, and coworkers.
Develops and implements programmatic initiatives including the development of compliance summaries, forms, manuals, and electronic content.
Assists in the development and administration of environmental compliance system.
Able to prioritize and meet multiple overlapping deadlines.
Prepares regulatory plans, permits, and applications.
Develops, reviews, and edits facility specific plans.
Provides support to resolve/address environmental compliance matters including directing and training of staff, communication with agency personnel, and developing corrective actions.
Inspects facilities for environmental compliance.
Participates in environmental remediation projects, including: document retention, internal reporting, reviewing work plans and documents, and coordinating with third party contractors in compliance with State and Federal law. Oversee work of contractors with support and cooperation of internal business partners such as site managers, maintenance and operations teams.
Provides guidance to company personnel on potential or actual breaches of compliance regulations and recommends corrective or preventative actions.
Participates in industry meetings, conferences, and training. May be asked to sit on boards or committees of industry organizations.
This position requires travel to various locations throughout Alaska, and periodic travel to Seattle and other locations.
