Provides values centered leadership to develop and implement strategy, planning and execution of all campus based events. Motivates a creative events team to provide an exceptional guest, volunteer and sponsor experience. Manages event operations to ensure that operational and net revenue goals are achieved.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manages the multi-site operations of OV campus based events, including culinary operations.
  2. Implements overall operational vision of the HallOVeen, Magical Forest, Camelot, the Great Santa Run and campus based events as defined by Executive Leadership.
  3. Develops annual event goals and budgets to achieve annual net revenue goals.
  4. Facilitates effective collaboration with all internal stakeholders including, but not limited to: Resource Development, HR/Volunteer Services, Business Office, Facilities, Marketing, Program Services, etc.
  5. Leads, coaches and develops event management staff following the OV Way. Provides ongoing feedback and guidance to direct reports on individual and team performance.
  6. Develops, and continually refines, event management standard operating procedures (i.e., SOP) that will ensure timeliness of event planning, implementation and execution.
  7. Works closely with the VP Philanthropy to ensure that all events meet the goals of the OV Foundation.
  8. Works closely with the VP Human Resources to ensure the effective planning and utilization of OV's labor resources.
  9. Works closely with the Director of Volunteer Services to ensure that OV Volunteers receive exceptional customer service, training and support.
  10. Works closely with the Director of Facilities to ensure effective planning and utilization of OV's assets.
  11. Works closely with the Director of Finance to ensure effective planning, procurement and inventory management.
  12. Works closely with the Director of Program Services to increase the opportunities for client participation in event operations.
  13. Collaborates with the Marketing Department to develop and implement a marketing plan for all events.
  14. Ensures best practices for events are implemented to facilitate donor and volunteer cultivation, positive community relations and enhanced brand awareness.
  15. Manages vendor relationships and external community partnerships in relations to events.
  16. Attend events and provide on-site support as required.
  17. Undertakes special projects, assignments and other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Possess excellent speaking and writings skills, time management and organization skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Social perceptiveness to assess, understand and positively respond to other’s reactions and behaviors.
  • Commitment to customer service excellence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment and to manage a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Must be goal oriented and able to meet or exceed sales and financial goals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: Expertise in broad based, multifaceted events within a theme park, retail, hospitality and/or similar event environment.
  • Required: Ten years’ progressive experience in a managerial role.
  • Required: Proficient in all programs of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Hospitality, Operations or related field or equivalent
  • Preferred: Experience in fundraising, nonprofit or related area.
  • Preferred: Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities.

  • Ability to tolerate stress.
  • Ability to conduct tasks and successfully perform under critical deadlines.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and examine documents, records and files.
