POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION
The Intern, Data Center Operations, will report to the Manager or if none assigned, Supervisor, CF Operations. The successful candidate will integrate onto the operations staff to learn the infrastructure of a data center and the requirements to maintain a world class operating facility. Regular, predictable attendance is essential for satisfactory performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Becomes competent in site and equipment safety to ensure well-being of the student while on our staff.
Works with CF Ops staff to learn fundamentals of operating and maintaining data centers.
Shadows on-shift operations personnel to make rounds, oversee routine and emergent maintenance, and witness priority situation management that occur when working daytime hours.
Shadows IT Operations, CF Engineering, IT Engineering to become familiar with how the departments interact to create, operate and maintain data centers.
Traces facility drawings to become familiar with mechanical and electrical plant equipment.
Works with Director, CF Operations to draft and edit Standard Operating Procedures, Standard Maintenance Procedures and Emergency Operating Procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
Able to work in a team environment.
Manages stress in a fast-paced environment effectively.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED.
Students currently enrolled in accredited four-year universities are eligible for this role.
Must be enrolled in any STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) disciplines, with preference given to pre-engineering, engineering and engineering technology.
Must possess a minimum GPA of 2.0 or higher.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Primarily walking, standing, and bending with some sitting.
Able to hear and speak into a telephone.
Close visual work on a computer terminal.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Able to climb a ladder and work on a raised platform.
WORK CONDITIONS
Standard office and Data Center environment with varying temperatures and loud noises; extensive daily usage of workstation or computer.
Must wear PPE and appropriate footwear when observing or performing tasks that require such protocols.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must work on-site; no telecommuting permitted.
Must provide proof of college enrollment and academic standing during the application process.
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver's license.
