Activity Summary:

Our summer Archives Interns assist in the organization, inventory and cataloging of the art objects and artifacts in the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation housed at Taliesin in Spring Green, Wisconsin and Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Note: this internship position is for individuals willing to volunteer their services without expectation of compensation at either historic site -- Taliesin West in Scottsdale or Taliesin in Spring Green. Room and board at both locations will be provided for the Summer Semester (early June through late July 2019).

Position Specific Activities and Corresponding Educational Goals:

Activity: Process archival collections including inventory, arranging, rehousing, and describing archival materials at Taliesin West. Catalog artifacts and furniture including inventory and rehousing atTaliesin.

Educational Goals: Using best practices library and museum skills, the Intern will create,update, and maintain official records for many documents in the Taliesin Associated Architects archive at Taliesin West. Using best practices and museum skills, the Intern will inventory, catalogue and care for objects owned by the FLWF in Taliesin.

By defining a schedule and creating workflow goals, the Intern will develop project management skills.

Additional Intern Activities: The Intern may assist in research requests and other activities that will further the Intern’s knowledge and experience.

Position Requirements

The candidate should have an interest in architecture and Frank Lloyd Wright. The successful candidate needs to be motivated, capable of working in a high energy environment, a creative and flexible thinker, able to work independently and within a supportive team, demonstrate attention to detail, and have strong research and organizational skills. The successful candidate must be enrolled in a graduate-level Library, Museum Studies, or related field. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office applications as well as WorldCat and other electronic resources is helpful. The successful candidate must be able to lift 40 pounds.

Time Commitment: Interns will be requested to work a minimum of 30 hours a week during the Summer semester.
