Dominion National, a leading provider of dental and vision benefits in the Mid-Atlantic area, has an exciting opportunity for an Insurance Regulatory Analyst.

Summary:

The Insurance Regulatory Analyst will help to identify, track and assist Dominion National's compliance with regulatory requirements associated with its operations. Work involves research and analysis of laws, regulations and regulatory guidance in support of internal and external audits and examinations. Collaboratively partners with leadership and staff in the performance of job duties. Utilizes knowledge of regulatory schemes to educate and advocate this process throughout the organization.

This individual will monitor and identify new legislation and regulations applicable to health insurance carriers, including dental insurance carriers; monitor legislation and regulations in process for status changes and action plan development / follow through; engage in outreach to relevant business units with summaries of laws and regulations requiring compliance. Collaboratively supports the development or revision of processes to meet these laws and regulations; perform research and analysis of state and federal laws, regulations and regulatory guidance in order to support governmental audits and examinations; assist in the development of in-house training programs to meet regulatory awareness needs; perform other duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

The Insurance Regulatory Analyst will, at a minimum, possess the following credentials:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field required; preferably a degree in pre-law, political science, English, accounting, mathematics or a business-related field.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of work experience in the regulation of health insurance or a related field required.
  • Experience with a formal corporate compliance program preferred.
  • Experience with legal research (Westlaw and/or Lexis).
  • General knowledge of the legislative process, including federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Previous experience managing and tracking multiple projects.
  • Discretely handle highly sensitive issues.
  • Previous experience communicating with regulators preferred.
  • High precision and attention to detail.
  • Advance experience with Microsoft Excel.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work with all levels throughout the organization.
