Financial Analyst I

Gathers, interprets, and evaluates financial information related to business opportunities, investments, and similar financial projects and programs. Develops complex financial analyses, business models, and recommendations to achieve financial objectives. Determines financial consequences of alternative methods, plans and strategies. Responsible for applying qualitative and quantitative measures to interpret data, formulate reports, and make recommendations based on research findings. Provides analytical support associated with corporate development and strategic business opportunities, key performance indicators, and other ad-hoc analyses that influence strategic decision-making. Performs other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall objectives of the department.

Position Requirements

Experience: Minimum of one to six years related experience and/or training.

Job Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree in Business or other related discipline and/or equivalent experience required; however, a BS in Finance is preferred. Strategic-oriented position where work is usually quite independent of others, with general guidance. Frequent oral and visual presentations to groups of varying sizes, where fluent presentation skills are required. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Must be able to summarize information into meaning terms; in order to accomplish this, the examinee must sort through distracting information. Demonstrated use of intermediate computer operations (basic programming, relational databases, and operating systems) and intermediate software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) Extensive work with software; applicants must demonstrate proficiency and willingness in learning and using software solutions. Understands the operation of moderately complex tools, machines, and systems. Applies elementary principles underlying the operation of physical systems. Understanding of the basic process of outside plant construction, CPE installation, Network construction, cable and electronics used in operations is helpful.

Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use of hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear and lift up to 50 pounds. Vision Requirements: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less) Working conditions: Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature. Good communicator; work with all levels of the organization from interns to management

Special Demands: Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to management and/or Human Resources. Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental, interdepartmental and corporate goals. Perform other duties as assigned. Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill. Identify the focus of team activity and select a new focus if that would help the team meet its goals more effectively. Select approaches that show a willingness to give and take direction, as needed, to further team goals (e.g., recognize the organization of team members’ tasks that would best serve the larger goals of the team). Choose approaches that encourage a team to act as a unit and reach agreement when discussing specific issues. Identify actions that would help manage differences of opinion between team members, moving the team toward its goals while valuing and supporting individual diversity. Prioritize, organize, and delegate assignments. Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air. Regular – Work schedule requirements are usually consistent from week to week. Handles and maintains confidential and/or sensitive customer information.
