Description

Cogent’s Dickinson, ND facility is currently seeking a Field Service / Shop Technician. This position will be responsible for rotating equipment service and repair for our valued clients.

For over 30 years our Dickinson North Dakota division has been serving the Midstream Energy Market, specifically pipelines, refineries, truck and rail terminals, with Custody Transfer measurement, additive systems, instrumentation, control valves level controls, automation, LACT fabrication, UL panels and related equipment for a one source integrated experience. From initial design, through CAD drawings, to equipment selection and procurement, assembly and startup, our team offers a customized approach to our customer’s unique applications.

Typical duties of a Field Service Technician may include:

  • Works alone or with others to install, service and maintain various types of rotating equipment typically found in the water and wastewater, oil and gas or other industry. Frequently working under tight deadlines to prevent customers from going into environmental violation and keep production moving.
  • Utilizes specific repair reports to accurately document all aspects of repair estimates, adjustments, repairs and failure diagnosis, including part numbers, part descriptions, estimated labor hours, actual labor hours, mileage, vehicle usage and descriptions of work required to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assists in planning and review of new or modified installations for mechanical and or electrical systems.
  • Works as an “Emergency Responder” as necessary. May work more than 8 hours in any particular day or on off hours on short notice.
  • Responsible for service vehicle maintenance scheduling and documentation.

Position Requirements

Qualified applicants will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED required; degree from a Technical or Vocational school in Mechanics or Electronics preferred.
  • Previous experience in the installation and repair of piping systems preferred.
  • Previous experience in installation, maintenance and repair of submersible pumps or other rotating equipment generally found in water and wastewater facilities preferred.
  • Excellent proven electro-mechanical repair and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work as an “Emergency Responder” subject to overtime and occasional overnight travel on short notice required.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required; Class A CDL with air brake endorsement or ability to possess CDL within 6 months of hire is required.
  • High level communication and organization skills, as well as a positive attitude towards customer service required.
  • Basic computer knowledge required (Outlook, Word, and Excel).
  • Ability to manually lift and maneuver heavy objects, parts, equipment and materials required.
  • Ability to work outdoors under extreme weather conditions required.
  • Ability to work under little supervision.
