We provide support services and advocacy to 400 adults and children and their families in Harford and Cecil Counties. The Arc supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to create lives that mirror yours and mine: students attending neighborhood schools, adults going to work and living in their own homes, and individuals enjoying the social and recreational opportunities in their communities. We are a private, non-profit local chapter of The Arc of Maryland and The Arc of The United States, the largest volunteer organization in the world devoted exclusively to improving the quality of life for all adults and children with developmental disabilities.

Description

Position Summary:

Transportation Driver's primary responsibilities include the safe and timely transport of individuals served, maintaining safe vehicle operation and completing assigned transportation service records.

Position Duties & Responsibilities:

In a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR Mission Statement the Transportation Driver shall do the following:

Quality Support

Complete trainings as required in Individuals Plans for assigned individuals.

Provide safe, accurate and timely transportation services to assigned individuals.

Quality Team Members

Assist in the training of new team members.

Work together as a team to troubleshoot, execute and resolve route and department issues.

Communicate in a timely manner with your supervisor on concerns with individuals we support and routing issues.

Financial Excellence

Complete assigned vehicle maintenance in a timely and thorough manner.

Keep complete, accurate and timely transportation service and routing records.

Report vehicle and other transportation issues in a timely and accurate manner.

Other duties as assigned

Education, Training and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required

One-Three (1-3) years of experience transporting other's is preferred.

Other Requirements

Access to reliable transportation

Active valid driver's license and driving record that has no more than two (2) points.

Maintenance of all required trainings under DDA guidelines and The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region policies and procedures

Flexibility of scheduling to meet agency and program needs

 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. High school diploma or equivalency.
  2. Valid Maryland drivers license with no more than two (2) points.

 

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Provide safe, accurate and timely transportation services to assigned individuals.
  2. Provide effective supports to individuals during all transportation services.
  3. Complete assigned vehicle maintenance in a timely and thorough manner.
  4. Maintain positive communications with the Transportation Supervisor and Assistant Transportation Supervisor.
  5. Keep complete, accurate and timely transportation service records.
  6. Report vehicle and other transportation issues in a timely and accurate manner.
  7. Complete trainings as required in Individual Plans for assigned individuals.
  8. Complete other duties as assigned.
