About the Organization  
Description
  • ATC is seeking a Project Geologist/Hydrogeologist for the Indianapolis, IN office. The Project Geologist (PG) will report to senior staff and will work with a team of scientists and engineers serving landfill, electric utility, and state agency clients. The successful scientist must be able to develop interpretations of site-specific unconsolidated deposits, bedrock, and hydrogeology as part of groundwater monitoring system design and permitting programs.
  • Manage multiple groundwater monitoring and subsurface investigation projects
  • Prepare and manage tasks for field and staff personnel
  • Manage scheduling with site representatives and subcontractors
  • Assist with client and regulatory agency communication
  • Responsible for meeting ATC and client health and safety policies
  • Prepare reports, proposals, and cost estimates
  • Understand regulatory compliance programs
  • Meet project deadlines and manage project budgets
  • Field work, including groundwater and surface water sampling, field description of unconsolidated and bedrock deposits, and boring/well layouts using GPS, on multi-day out-of-town assignments
  • Abide by ATC’s health and safety policies and procedures.
 
Position Requirements

Basic qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Geology or Hydrogeology
  • 8 Years or more consulting experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience investigating groundwater flow in unconsolidated and bedrock deposits
  • Resourceful, flexible, adaptable, accountable
  • Able to identify options and alternatives to meet team commitments
  • Consistent focus on company and client objectives
  • Manage multiple projects under multiple regulatory frameworks
  • Persistent attention to detail
  • Current 40 Hr OSHA HAZWOPER mandatory
  • Indiana Licensed Professional Geologist preferred
  • MS in Geology or Hydrogeology preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License with good driving record


Desired qualifications::

  • Understanding of Unconsolidated Geologic Deposits, Groundwater Hydraulics, and Aquifer Testing
  • Detailed, Organized, Concise Technical Writing
  • Understanding of Groundwater Sampling Methods
  • Understanding and Experience with Groundwater Detection, Assessment, and Corrective Action Statistics preferred
  • Knowledge of Indiana’s Solid Waste Regulations and Federal Standards for the Disposal of Coal Combustion Residuals in Landfills and Surface Impoundments preferred
