Valley Community Services Board serves as the single point of entry into publicly funded mental health, developmental, and substance use disorder services for these localities.

Serving adults with developmental disabilities, our group homes provide housing and intensive assistance designed to reinforce the highest level of independence possible. So, are you ready?

We are currently looking for a few full-time and part-time (20 hours per week) staff willing to work all shifts. Part-time hours include shifts from 5AM to 9AM or from 1PM to 6PM. The employee works as a team member in providing Person-Centered active treatment and care to adults with severe intellectual and physical challenges. This position is responsible for assuring individuals' needs are met, household safety and sanitation are maintained, and applicable standards and regulations are met. Specialists receive close supervision from the Shift Coordinator. Specialists are assigned to either our Greenstone Residence or Grandview Residence as their primary work site; however, Specialists are oriented and trained to work at both homes as needed.

 

 
Position Requirements

A combination of education and experience that provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities. High school diploma or equivalent required. Within the first 12 months of employment, employee must satisfactory completion of a VA Board of Nursing approved Medication Aide training program and satisfactorily demonstrate medication administration and supervision of self-administration to the facility nurse in accordance with the prescriber’s instruction pertaining to dosage, frequency, and manner of administration, and in accordance with regulations promulgated by the Board of Pharmacy relating to security and record keeping, and in accordance with facility Medication Management Policy, upon completion of the training program and on an annual basis. The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Virginia driver’s license and to communicate effectively orally and in writing. The candidate must be able to stand, squat, sit, bend, stoop, stretch, left ¼ of body weight, assist with wheelchair transfers and push a wheelchair. The employee must be able to obtain certification of the absence of tuberculosis according to VCSB’s Tuberculosis Screening policy. Must work in a latex environment where reasonable accommodations are the issuance of latex-free gloves and the use of breathing barriers for CPR training. Must be able to assist with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup, including the use of various foods and spices (no accommodations available).

Must be able to work a flexible schedule including all shifts and all days of the week, weekends, holidays and inclement weather days.
