This full-time paid internship opportunity is for the summer of 2019. We are seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Data Analysis, or a Science related degree. Objective of the Assignment: Leverage existing datasets especially from Nanostring and HALO image analysis to find and validate novel biomarkers for immune oncology from gene expression profiling, multiplex, and spatial information. Conduct statistical analysis of data generated from targeted expression profiling and Nanostring gene panels from patient cohorts and in vivo disease models to identify novel biomarkers and biological pathways involved in tumorigenesis. Characterize spatial relationships and mRNA expression of specific cell phenotypes to help elucidate distinct cell signatures and processes involved the tumor microenvironment. Responsibilities: Analyze data using various image analysis and statistical tools Organize findings and presentation materials in a way that is both clear and concise Work with others in an innovative team environment Required Competencies: Strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills Interest in biology-related fields and data science / analysis A demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team Written and verbal communication Analytical and organizational skills Self-motivated Ability to work with Microsoft software products Familiarity with programming (R, Python)   Position Requirements To participate in the AstraZeneca Intern Program, Students must meet the following eligibility criteria: • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. • Enrollment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program, returning to the academic program following AstraZeneca assignment • Minimum grade point average of 3.0 preferred • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date   Full-Time/Part-Time   Location Gaithersburg, MD   This position is currently not accepting applications.
