What are the objectives/goals of the position? By the end of this internship, the student will have a strong understanding of molecular biology techniques and a greater understanding of cutting-edge research. The goal of this internship is to introduce biology/cancer research outside of the textbook to allow the student to decide, based from their own experience, if this is a future they would like to pursue. What are the primary duties of this position? This is a predominantly lab-based position. The applicant will assist scientists to maintain multiple cancer cell lines, test pharmacological compounds (drugs) and to investigate the biological mechanism of action of these compounds (how do these drugs work).   Position Requirements What technical skills are required? The student must have strong background knowledge on scientific techniques (actual lab training is less important than understanding the concepts of the technique). The student must also have a broad biological understanding. As important will be the student’s enthusiasm and dedication to not only learn but work in the lab.
