Summary/Objective

The Construction Site Supervisor demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to the Mission of Tulsa Habitat for Humanity and in the people and neighborhoods it serves with a genuine interest in, and ability to relate to, a highly diverse environment, clientele and constituencies. Construction Site Supervisor will be able to communicate this to volunteers, donors, vendors, construction professionals and staff

This is a hands-on position that provides on-site coordination for all phases of construction projects from start to finish, including coordinating subcontractors, volunteers, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on. Construction Site Supervisor shall be responsible for preparing for volunteer work days, scheduling vendors, subcontractors, inspections, quality control, and job site safety.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees the entire building process to ensure work is being performed according to specifications, schedule, and coordination of subcontractors and volunteers.
  • Prepare and submit change order(s).
  • Correct any safety issues; complete and submit Incident Report for any injuries that occur.
  • Anticipates problems and takes responsibility for solving them on the work site to ensure schedules and work plans are met.
  • Communicates weekly expectations and challenges to Superintendent - Sponsor Builds, volunteers, crews, and subcontractors.
  • Supervises job site staff, subcontractors, and skilled and unskilled volunteers.
  • Works closely with the Volunteer Coordinator in the planning of volunteer and partner family work groups and in identifying potential crew leaders and skilled volunteer workers.
  • Understand elements that contribute to a successful volunteer experience ensuring that volunteers have a consistently good experience, thus motivating them to return.
  • Inspects the work of volunteers, employees, and subcontractors to ensure construction conforms to the requirements set forth by contract documents and industry standard.
  • Communicates and works closely with Superintendent - Sponsor Build Homes and successfully collaborates with others to achieve the organization's goals.
  • Responsible for jobsite compliance with all federally mandated policies and laws regarding equal employment opportunity and compliance with nondiscriminatory laws and regulations.
  • Assist other Construction Superintendents as directed.
  • Adheres to construction departmental policies and procedures.

Work Environment - Residential Home Builder (on-site)
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently inspect the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. This position is exposed to outside weather conditions.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, climb a ladder with heights of up to two-stories, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must also occasionally lift and move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours. Days and hours of work to satisfy the 40 hour requirement are typically Monday through Saturday.

Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Position Requirements

Required Experience / Education

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • At least 5 years’ experience as site Supervisor, Foreman or other lead experience in all phases of construction.
  • Must have experience with operating hand and power tools, heavy machinery (Skid-Steer and Backhoe), perform hands-on tasks such as framing, caulking, and painting and clean up.
  • Able to lead volunteers on how to use tools and equipment safely and assist in different phases of construction.
  • Ability to organize tools and materials in order to progress work effectively while maintaining a clean work site.
  • Experience as a volunteer team lead (a plus).
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project preferred.
  • Possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
  • Absolute commitment to job safety.
