Reviews, analyzes, investigates, processes, evaluates the merits of penalties amounts paid/requested and determines the validity and liability of the loss. In addition, handles initial review and documentation of events for reported lost properties by analyzing and investigating events leading up to the property being lost.

Claims & Lost Property Processing:

  • Establishes new claim or lost property losses and identifies and locates information and facts which are necessary and relevant for the purposes of evaluating a claim or lost property.
  • Reviews initial notices, assesses the claim or lost property by gathering all pertinent information.
  • Maintains open communication with various agencies and appropriate departments on a regular basis to obtain information necessary for determining liability of the claim.
  • Reviews and confirm lost property information with tax agency. Requests all appropriate legal documentation from the tax agency showing proof of tax sale and notice delivery to all parties of record.
  • Updates LERETA's systems with appropriate documentation related to the claim or lost property.
  • Reviews customer business rules and contractual agreements and denies lost property claims accordingly.
  • Documents chronicle of events on lost properties, providing specific details and noting gaps in processes which lead to the property being lost.
  • Conducts the handling of all claims and lost properties in such a way as to protect the company from unnecessary and unreasonable risk.
  • Processes all claims and lost properties in required customer SLA's.

Additional Functions:

  • Responsible for data entry, escalating issues, maintaining accurate documentation and following established guidelines to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and achieve department success.
  • Follows established guidelines and identifies opportunities for process improvement to align individual performance with department objectives.
  • Establishes new claim losses from existing and former customer.
  • Responds to Account Manager or Customer inquires timely.

Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 -3 years experience in a mortgage or servicing tax preferred, with specific knowledge of delinquent real estate taxes and tax sales.
