This position provides analysis and forecasting for Senior Management ensuring Strategic Plan objectives are met, Grant PUD maintains a strong financial position, and is able to provide long term low rates to customers. Role has a high level of understanding and knowledge of financial forecasting and overall linkages of Grant PUD interaction within the financial model. Manages projects independently with inputs from senior management. Develops proper methods and techniques to analyze data and recommend changes.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Solves financial forecast for outcomes on specific variables, run scenarios on multiple model inputs and analyze options to most efficiently achieve Grant PUD metric targets; prepare metric sensitivity reports accurately and analyze model input feeder data; communicates with potentially all Senior Managers and Executive Team effectively discussing decision recommendations, data inputs, model outcomes, and sensitivity drivers.

Forecasts key metrics for Senior Management ensuring they can see the effects of their decisions; understands impact of work as management relies on output to drive strategy and decisions; coordinates with all Grant PUD initiative and process owners that control the metrics being measured to ensure accurate analysis and forecasting; builds and consistently updates monthly forecasting and budget to actuals, incorporates intra-year updates to enable more accurate year-end financial analysis and decision making for Senior Management.

Refines and administers the Grant PUD’s cash flow and budget process; provides cohesion and problem solving for budget processes which do not interface well between top-down budget goals and bottom-up project management; coordinates with groups in Grant PUD to update budget.

Collaborates and provides clear education to various groups and departments regarding budgetary decisions affecting productivity and workflow; provides clear and concise economic analysis support across District projects and initiatives allowing decision making for future funding.

Understand and adhere to compliance requirements for this position that may include laws, regulations, security guidelines, Grant PUD policies & procedures.

Job Requirements

Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree minimum in the area of Finance, Business, Economics or related field. Master’s level education a plus. Minimum Five (5) years’ experience in accounting, budget/forecasting, and/or risk management. Two (2) years’ experience specifically in the utility industry preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of RCW’s which govern PUD’s, budgeting laws, risk management, and a working understanding of the issuance of debt securities; budget, forecast, risk and rate practices, computerized accounting and financial systems and FERC accounting practices; microcomputers and inputting information and assimilating online and printed reports.

Skill in – working independently on complex tasks requiring a high degree of concentration, ingenuity and planning to accomplish; working under pressure and multi tasking multple high priority projects; interfacing with external agencies, general public and organizations; verbal and written communication; planning, scheduling, coordinating, budgeting, and administrating; working well with employees at all levels of the organization; getting programs moving while working under pressure; translating complex financial and industry related concepts into proposals, illustrations, and meaningful reports.

Special Requirements

A valid State driver’s license is required.

Physical Requirements

Majority of work is performed in a standard office setting.
