POSITION SUMMARY: The ASC Coordinator provides support to the Director of Nursing (DON) within each facility to ensure practice success within each surgery center. The ASC Coordinator is required to provide strategic and operational planning input for the practice operations, assure that regulatory obligations are met and report progress and results to Surgical Services Director.

Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Financial Management (KPI):
    • Promotes financial viability of surgery and monitors financial performance related to pricing strategies, revenues, expenditures and resource management.
    • Constantly monitors surgery center operating statistics to isolate trends and dramatic changes in performance to ensure the surgery center is maintaining its place and competitive edge in the community and the surrounding areas.
    • Coordinate with DON to develop, implement, and evaluate services to establish systems that ensure efficient and cost effective utilization of space, materials, and personnel.
  • Performance Management:
    • Develops and recommends strategic and operational plans and operating Policies to the Governing Body in coordination with all DON’s, as well as ensuring all policies and procedures are carried out as outlined.
    • Prepares and maintains a current Policy and Procedures Manual that provides details on the operating rules that govern the Surgery Centers.
    • In the implementation of operational strategies, utilizes the surgery center in a cost effective and patient oriented manner.
    • Plans for future improvement in procedures and organization of the surgery centers. Anticipate problems that may have an impact on the surgery centers and their future.
  • Risk Management:
    • Maintains compliance with the organization’s confidentiality policy in accordance to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
    • Monitors MWEC processes to ensure compliance with the organization’s policies and guidelines set by relevant regulatory agencies.
    • Ensures that all laws and regulations pertaining to ASC and surgery center protocol are maintained, including safety, infection control and risk management.
    • Maintains and ensures that all documents required in the credentialing/re-credentialing process are current and renewed as appropriate.
  • Asset Management:
    • Establishes and implements a protocol for ordering supplies, equipment, medications, etc.
    • Demonstrates continuous awareness of material management needs, interacting with vendors and outsourced services as needed in a timely and professional manner.
  • Other Duties:
    • Coordinate with key personnel on new surgery center acquisitions to create, set up, and develop all items related to Financial, Performance, Risk, and Asset Management listed above.
    • Performs other duties and assumes various responsibilities as determined by the Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor or Masters in Healthcare Administration or a related field.
  • Five – Eight years of ASC Management experience, at least two years of which must have been at the highest level of management in an ASC.
  • RN licenses preferred
  • Experience in fields of optometry or ophthalmology is preferred
