SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Custodial Supervisor the Custodian will be responsible for the daily cleaning of buildings. Employees in these job classifications are under immediate supervision and perform various duties requiring moderate physical strength. Typical duties may include some or all of the following: dust mopping, sweeping, wet mopping, dusting, cleaning restrooms, removing trash, polishing furniture and simple operation of basic mechanical cleaning equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Dust mop, sweep, wet mop, pre-buff floors

  2. May require some use and training of power equipment

  3. Vacuum rugs and carpets

  4. Scrub and clean restroom fixtures and keep restrooms supplied with towels, soap and other items.

  5. Dust and clean walls, door, windows, woodwork and other above floors surfaces.

  6. Dust, clean and polish furniture

  7. Ability to perform all duties to ensure assigned area is cleaned to specifications which may including vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, mopping and use of equipment to clean carpets.

  8. Ability to work with staff and adults with disabilities to ensure they have an opportunity to:

  9. Have knowledge of use and proper mixing of the chemicals used for cleaning of contract.

  10. Perform duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • ·Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • ·Required: One (1) year verifiable work experience in custodial field.
  • ·Preferred: Prior experience with developmentally disabled individuals.

 

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to stand 80% of the work time and sit 20%.
  • Lift and carry at least twenty-five (25) pounds.
  • Ability to climb, stoop, kneel, reach, climb stairs, clean low and high areas.
