Payroll Accountant / Administrator

This position will be responsible for processing semi-monthly, multi-state payroll, prepares payroll journal entries and account reconciliations.

Position duties include but not limited to:

  • Processes semi-monthly, multi-state payroll using ADP payroll system.
  • Prepares and enters payroll related journal entries
  • Reconciles payroll related general ledger accounts (quarterly/annual)
  • Manages PTO accrual balances
  • Processes garnishments and requests from EDD and other state agencies.
  • Reviews and validates new hire records in HR/payroll system.
  • Processes manual payroll checks (including termination checks).
  • Maintains company payroll changes and filing system.
  • Prepares and maintains excel based payroll balancing worksheet
  • Establishes and maintains various state payroll tax related accounts.
  • Prepares benefits billing reconciliations.
  • Prepares payroll related transmissions and banking transactions
  • Assists Accounting Department with special projects.
Position Requirements


  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, 10-key by touch, and preferably ADP, AccPac.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles and techniques involved in payroll administration and payroll related accounting practices; awareness of state and federal laws related to payroll practices, record keeping, retirement funds, and garnishments.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest and commissions. Financial Services experience a plus.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
