Job Purpose
Follow established nursing processes, as outlined in 'Duties and Responsibilities,' while maintaining a patient-centered, quality-driven environment. Assist the providers of the office by functioning in a team-based atmosphere to provide quality medical care.
Organizational Duties and Responsibilities
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Boston Children's Health Physicians in its efforts to provide quality service and patient satisfaction
Demonstrate continuing education by completing all required annual trainings, as stated in the Training Curriculum, including but not limited to care coordination, population health management and self-management support techniques.
Complete annual corporate compliance training
Understand and effectively communicate HIPAA compliance, corporate compliance and client confidentiality
Ensure and/or remain in compliance with local, state and federal regulation
Essential Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
Perform brief histories on patients coming to the office for sick visits
Perform well visit questions and tests prior to physician coming to see the patient according to standing protocols
Perform in-office lab tests including flu tests, strep tests, cholesterol finger sticks, lead finger sticks, mono finger sticks, hemoglobin finger sticks
Document results in EMR
Bill for procedure
Perform venipuncture when ordered by provider
Track ordered labs to make sure the office gets results
Perform spirometry when ordered by provider
Administer vaccinations according to ACIP schedule and in-office standing orders
Administer in-office medications under the directions of the provider
Queue medications to providers when requested
Fill out forms to go to schools, day cares, employers, and hospitals/specialists
Assess patient needs via phone call, answering questions when possible and elevating to providers or booking appointments when needed
Take evening call, triaging patients and elevating to on-call provider when necessary
Nurses are responsible for evening call throughout the week and are on the weekend hours rotation
Operate according to standard orders and standing protocols
Enter all charges into superbill
Provide care in a patient-centered manner
Attend medical home meetings
Participate in pre-visit planning
Demonstrate excellence in both internal and external customer service
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Experience and Licensure Requirements
High school degree or equivalent required
Current NYS LPN license required
Pediatric nursing experience preferred
