Mental Health Therapist

Description

Monday - Friday 8-5pm

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychotherapy, biopsychosocial evaluation, mental status exams, crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy, cross train staff to implement effective psychotherapeutic strategies and operate within community standards of practice, professional practice guidelines and preferably with an established evidence based practices.
  • Provides case management for an assigned group of clients including coordinating and monitoring the activities of the individual treatment team.
  • Assumes primary responsibility for developing, writing, implementing, evaluating, and revising overall treatment goals and plans in conjunction with the Individualized Treatment Team
  • Provides individual supportive therapy and system management.
  • Ensures immediate changes are made in treatment plans as client’s needs change.
  • Educates and supports client’s families; and advocates for clients’ rights and preferences.
  • Participates in comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history (e.g., onset, course and effect of illness, past treatment and responses and risk behaviors), mental status, and diagnosis; physical health and dental health; use of drugs or alcohol; education and employment; social development and functioning; activities of daily living (e.g. self-care, living situation, nutrition, money management); and family structure and relationships.
  • Consults with community agencies and families to maintain coordination.
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Licensed to provide psychotherapy services in the State of North Carolina (ie LPC, LCSW,LMFT, LPCA, LCSWA, or LMFTA).
  • Dual Licensure with NCSAPPB strongly preferred. (ie LCASA, LCAS).
  • Must have a strong commitment to the rights and ability of each person with a severe and persistent mental illness to live in normal community residence; work in market jobs; and have access to helpful, adequate, competent, and continuous supports and services.
  • Skills and competence to establish supportive trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and respect for client rights and personal preferences in treatment are essential.
  • Must have a valid, unrestricted, state appropriate driver’s license for the State of North Carolina.
  • A Master’s degree in a related human service field.
