Panavision Intern - Summer 2019 (Academy Gold)

This internship is with Panavision in Woodland Hills, CA, but is part of the Academy Gold Program, an 8-week internship enhancement program that incorporates learning opportunities including an intensive two-day orientation, weekly panels, exclusive networking events, workshops, screenings, and mentorship opportunities with Academy members. Duties and Responsibilities:

The Internship Program consists of application of applied majors towards the film and motion picture industry. Interns will learn how their field of expertise is used in the development and implementation of camera positioning systems for feature films, television, and interactive media. Interns will receive hands on experience of how the film industries operations departments function, getting a rare chance to assist preps and build general knowledge of providing customer service to the industry's leading productions.

Areas of Interaction:

  • Logistics - Introduction to how to handle, ship, deliver and receive equipment. Learn what departments service specific equipment.

  • Service - Introduction to Opto / Mechanical theory, history of Panavision lens line. Introduction to anamorphic theory, generational differences and customer preference.

  • Store Room - Learn contents of specific accessory cases, build cases and assist from counter. Introduction to Prestons.

  • Prep Floor - Assist in pull and prep orders. Support client demos by grabbing / exchanging equipment. Continue to build knowledge of how a camera package comes together
Position Requirements
  • Current student taking courses in Film / Cinema programs
  • Ability to work well with Film Industry affiliates
  • Willingness to learn, goal oriented, persistent
  • Good customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) with both internal and external customers
  • Effective organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and shift priorities where necessary
  • Ability to remain flexible towards changes in scheduled
  • Ability to work on own initiative without constant supervision

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This job operates in a professional office environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the intern is regularly required to talk and hear. The Intern frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and reach with hands and arms. The Intern may also be required to lift product or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This position normally works 24 hours per week. Hours to be completed based on Intern’s availability and / or school schedule.
