The Respite Care Worker Lead position involves enhancing the emotional, physical, spiritual and intellectual well-being of children with disabilities at our facility focused on children in the Wausau area. The Lead will assist the Manager of Family Services in the planning and management of the Respite Programs. The Lead will also assist the Manager of Family Services in the supervision of Respite staff and staffing schedules. This is an ideal position for someone who has a genuine desire to help children with disabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide personal cares to children at our facility focused on children in the Wausau area including feeding, toileting, diapering, etc.
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship with the family
  • Work with manager to develop and coordinate activity plans and outcome measurements for children
  • Work with the Manager of Family Services to accommodate families scheduling their children for respite.
  • Supervise respite co-workers as they perform their respite duties and responsibilities (Friday through Sunday). Assure co-workers follow appropriate policy and procedure at all time
  • Act as the 'on call' person weekday evenings after 6pm and throughout each weekend
 
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma required
  • One to two years of related experience working in the day care or respite field
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years with a good driving record and proof of personal vehicle insurance
  • Ability to pass a criminal and caregiver background check
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening including drug test, physical evaluation including lifting/supporting 75-100 pounds, and 2 Step TB Test
  • Frequent to occasional, bending, squatting, twisting, reaching, standing, and walking
  • Requires the ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work effectively
  • Be able to make logical decisions; carry out decisions made; and follow-up with feedback when appropriate
  • Must be caring and compassionate, and want to make a difference in the lives of our clients
