The primary purpose of this position is to write grants for the City of Thomasville. Work requires research, initiative, and creativity in finding funding sources. Person in this position will work closely with individual departments to identify project needs and prepare timely submission of proposals. Position receives supervision from the City Planner and is expected to work independently.
Works closely with individual departments to identify project needs; researches grant programs; secures funding sources;
Prepares grants; reviews completed application with departments; and submits proposals/applications in a timely manner;
Works closely with the Chief Financial Officer on budgetary, accountability, and compliance issues; ensures any required matching funds are available as needed;
Works with City Attorney to ensure grant agreements are properly approved;
Prepares schedule of federal, state, or local grant expenditures for the annual financial audit;
Establishes and maintains detailed budget and financial records associated with the grants;
Updates departments regarding ongoing grants to ensure the City is staying in compliance with grant conditions/stipulations;
Meets with and assists departments with annual budget and potential grant opportunities;
Reviews and approves all drawdown requests for reimbursement and ensures all reimbursement checks or transfers are made in accordance with grant requirements;
Reviews and ensures compliance for various grant budget amendments prepared during the year and may perform other accounting or financial analysis duties as needed;
Answers questions and provides advice with regard to Grantees activities and requirements;
Attends related workshops, conferences, and seminars to maintain up-to-date practices and grant opportunities;
Keeps City Planner updated as necessary on grant opportunities, grant expenditures; and any grant issues that may arise;
Maintains files containing contracts, invoices, special requests, correspondence, updates, and proposals related to projects.
