Schedule 20 hours per week, Monday-Sunday. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, and one weekend day. Hours may vary based on departmental needs.  
Pay Rate $10.10-$10.50/hr.

SUMMARY
The Volunteer/Fundraising Coordinator will be tasked with developing, implementing, and facilitating a new volunteer program, and also provide a wide range of administrative and office support to the South Bend Animal Care & Control (SBACC) Volunteer/Foster Program and fundraising efforts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.
Volunteer Recruitment:
o Respond to telephone calls, e-mails, walk-ins and mail regarding volunteering at SBACC
o Attend conferences/fairs to recruit new volunteers (if needed)
o Assist with Volunteer Open Houses (update dates on the website; coordinate set up with HR; interview new volunteers; make a spreadsheet with results; call new volunteers with training dates and coordinate production of training materials
o Assist in coordinating volunteers for daily shelter operational duties, adoption events and enrichment programs for the animals housed within and outside the shelter.
o Send e-mail blasts to recruit/coordinate volunteers for extra assistance for Special Events (adoption events, fundraising events, developmental programs for schools etc.)

Administration for Volunteer Program and Volunteer Retention:
o Input/create records for new volunteers in Pet Point and keep information up to date (address changes, availability, etc.)
o Maintain and update volunteer hard-copy files (attendance, training forms, commendations, accident reports, etc.)
o Assist with generating and updating various important /staffing sheets, spreadsheets/grids/and reports
o Keep postings up to date on Volunteer Bulletin Board regarding trainings, new volunteer positions, policy changes for shelter, etc.
o Serve as a mentor to volunteers, as needed.

Fundraising:
o Develop and coordinate fundraising strategies and support major fundraising programs as directed by the Shelter Manager
o Develop of fundraising goals and solicit funds.
o Identify new potential donors and organize initiatives to solicit funding.
o May assist in developing major gift opportunities and writing grant proposals.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Perform other duties as requested by Shelter Manager or his/her designee.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Experience in developing, implementing, and managing volunteer programs. Fiscal management preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
• Hands-on experience in program design, volunteer and fiscal management.
• Ability to make high level independent decisions.
• Strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with a very varied group of volunteers and employees.
• Strong computer skills (knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary; knowledge of PowerPoint and databases like Pet Point a plus).
• Ability to write grants a plus.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Valid Driver’s License required.

EQUIPMENT
Computer, iPad, calculator, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, and other general office equipment, motor vehicle.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in office and outside settings in varying weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office and loud in the Animal Care and Control Shelter. Entire office is smoke free.
