What are we looking for in a Nurse Manager?

The Nurse Manager ensures that the nursing services provided in each of our inpatient facilities are safe, compassionate, consistent, and effective for our clients. Through staffing practices, supervision of the nursing team, development and implementation of nursing policies & procedures, and regular floor shifts at each facility, the Nurse Manager will develop a high-quality and consistent inpatient nursing department. It is expected that the Nurse Manager will float between our four Yakima-area inpatient sites—Bridges, Two Rivers Landing, Competency Restoration Program, and Selah Evaluation & Treatment facility—to become an expert at each program, provide regular clinical supervision to each nurse, and ensure compliance with all survey and licensure requirements. In addition to a strong clinical skill set, the Nurse Manager will need an understanding of staff development practices, a desire for performance improvement, and the ability to manage tasks across multiple work sites. This position has a work schedule of Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with the expectation of picking up a shift once a quarter at each facility.

Nurse Manager duties may include:

  • supervising nursing staff, providing direction and feedback, and creating training & professional development plans for each team member
  • creating staffing plans and participating in the recruitment & interview process for nurse positions to ensure adequate coverage
  • working standard floor shifts at each facility every quarter and ensuring each nurse is trained across all facilities
  • coordinating placements for nursing student clinical rotations and overseeing students’ performance
  • monitoring the consistent application of Joint Commission and licensing standards across the facilities
  • providing direct nursing services on a regular basis and filling in when necessary, which includes administering medications, monitoring symptoms, completing nursing assessments, and crisis intervention
  • following appropriate policies, training, and techniques for managing aggressive behavior—including the use of seclusion & restraints
 
Position Requirements

Education / Experience: Registered Nurse license in WA

Other Credentials: CPR & First Aid certifications; valid driver's license and vehicle liability insurance
