Position HR/Payroll Specialist

We have five locations spanning the eastern Twin Cities of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Position Summary

Associated Eye Care is currently seeking an HR/Payroll Specialist. This position provides support in functional areas of a human resources department and will be responsible for various areas of the department, including recruitment and interviewing, processing employee-related information, benefits administration, employee engagement, processing bi-weekly payroll and general HR duties. The position will assist the Human Resources Manager in many programs and projects related to employee trainings/engagement, surveys/metrics, and other general HR department needs. Candidates must be able to work full-time, and have the ability and willingness to travel to the practice's five locations located in the east Metro and western Wisconsin.

Essential Functions

  • Conducts recruitment for the company including posting jobs to various job boards, triaging resumes to appropriate managers, and conducting phone screens and participating interviews, completing background and reference checks
  • Processes new hire information and current employee changes (i.e. rate changes, status changes, and benefit deduction changes) in a timely manner to ensure accurate timing of changes in the payroll and benefit systems
  • Processes bi-weekly payroll for four (4) separate EINs, ensuring accuracy of deductions and payments
  • Completes the Affirmative Action Plan every four (4) years and EEO filing every year
  • Assists in the development of employee engagement programs and modify as needed to increase employee satisfaction and retention
  • Assists in the benefit administration and Annual Open Enrollment process
  • Assists with employee performance reviews by maintaining schedules, communicating with managers, and preparing customized performance review forms
  • Compiles statistical reports concerning data such as hires, transfers, and terminations
  • Assists with gathering appropriate company-related data in order to effectively maintain Company compensation program
  • Assists with planning annual All-Staff Meeting
  • Maintain company phone directory
  • Performs general HR duties, including letter/email preparation, copying, scanning and filing

Other Essential Functions

  • Must be available to work outside of regular working hours on occasion and able to travel to other AEC offices as needed
  • Participates in department and company meetings, as requested
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Education & Licensing

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, with preference in Human Resources


  • 1-2 years of Human Resources experience required
  • 1-2 years of payroll processing experience preferred

Job Specific Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations relating to employment and benefits
