Transmission Engineer - Level 3

Description

This position will be responsible for providing engineering support in the Transmission/Distribution/Substation Lines Engineering and Program Management Group. Conducts engineering and technical analyses and assessments for the development and implementation of routine projects, studies, plans and various engineering activities requiring initiative and sound engineering judgment.

This position performs routine work that conforms to all project/task requirements that requires basic understanding and application of engineering theories, standards, concepts, techniques, as well as knowledge of engineering/industry standards associated with the design, permitting, material procurement and construction of electric transmission lines. Supports and/or Leads the development and delivery of projects to meet cost and schedule requirements, including identifying the project team, and managing project coordination and communication among team members.

Required

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Environmental/Civil Engineering

Engineering. Minimum 8 years of progressive, relevant engineer experience as described below (including experience as an Engineer 2) or the equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training demonstrating the following skills:

Experience demonstrating skill reading/reviewing electrical system diagrams and construction drawings related to Transmission/ Distribution / Substation Lines.

Understanding and applying engineering theories, standards, concepts, resources and techniques;

Working on complex projects independently and/or working with teams on larger projects;

Independently performs engineering and analytical studies while demonstrating sound problem solving skills.

Working closely with other groups within and/or outside the company;

Keeping abreast of new equipment, methods and developments in engineering.

Professional Engineer (PE) license in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington, DC or the ability to become license within 6 months

Experience demonstrating effective written and oral communication skills.

Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail software to perform work functions.

Ability and willingness to travel to various company locations and work sites.

Ability and willingness to adhere to safety regulations and policies and to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and the Client's regulations (for example, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves and sleeves, hard hat, fire retardant clothing).

Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments, which may include outdoors in all weather conditions, on or around energized electrical equipment, in confined spaces, climbing, underground and in noisy and dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Must successfully pass a medical screening to include a drug test.

Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check.

Preferred

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Environmental/Civil Engineering.

Successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination.

Experience demonstrating skill using design software (for example, CAD software, GIS/GWD, Visio).

Experience demonstrating skill using Project Management software (for example; MS Project or Primavera).

Experience demonstrating skill leading the development and delivery of routine projects

Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based analytical software and/or presentation software.
