This position has full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating electrical projects across the Substation / Distribution / Transmission Program Management Group. This position requires extensive progressive experience thereby able to perform and interpret complex engineering and/or economic data analyses for large and/or complex engineering project, using specialized programs and or vendor specific software. This position will be company liaison to outside groups, organizations, governments and regulatory bodies and will represent the Substation / Distribution / Transmission Program Management Group in working with other departments, consultants and contractors to establish or review plans, designs, calculations methods, solutions, etc.
Required:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Mechanical/Environmental/Civil Engineering
Minimum 10 years of progressive, relevant engineer experience as described below (including experience as an Engineer 3) OR the equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training demonstrating the following skills:
Working independently on routine projects and/or under guidance on special projects, effectively incorporating engineering theories, standards, concepts, and techniques as well as engineering/industry/government codes and regulations;
Performing and interpreting engineering analysis and/or economic data analysis for engineering projects, using specialized utility programs and/or vendor-specific software;
Experience demonstrating skill performing Substation / Distribution / Transmission design and engineering activities.
Developing creative solutions to problems of above-average complexity;
Managing multiple engineering projects/assignments and ensuring work conforms to project/task requirements, including:
Coordinating work across different areas, departments and/or work groups;
Developing bid specifications and evaluation criteria;
Evaluating vendor qualifications and monitoring contract compliance; and
Conducting feasibility studies (for example, economic benefits of design and investigations).
Identifying the need for new projects/initiatives and recommending a solution;
Mentoring engineers and others in a variety of engineering projects/activities;
Keeping abreast of new equipment, methods and developments in an engineering specialty.
Other Requirements:
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington, DC or ability to become license within 6 months
Experience demonstrating skill presenting oral and written results of engineering projects. Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, analytical and e-mail software.
Experience demonstrating skill using design software (for example, CAD software, Visio).
Ability and willingness to travel to various company locations and work sites.
Ability and willingness to adhere to safety regulations and policies and to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and the Client's regulations (for example, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves and sleeves, hard hat, fire retardant clothing).
Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments, which may include outdoors in all weather conditions, on or around energized electrical equipment, in confined spaces, climbing, underground and in noisy and dirty environments with proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check.
Must successfully pass a Medical Screening to include a drug test.
Preferred:
Experience demonstrating skill utilizing SAP and/or WMIS.
Experience demonstrating skill using Project Management software (for example MS Project or Primavera)
