The Pharmacy Technician works as part of a team assisting the Pharmacists in our hospital pharmacy or retail establishment. Duties include assisting Pharmacists to prepare, count and dispense medications. This position receives and stores incoming supplies, counts, stocks, and enters data in computer to maintain inventory records. The Pharmacy Technician also processes records of medication and equipment dispensed to patients, computes charges, and enters data in computer. Basic computer, phone, and cashier skills are required. Must have knowledge of insurance and third-party payment systems. Excellent customer service, clerical and communication skills are essential. Confidentiality is mandatory in all positions at EBCH.
A Certificate of Completion from a college or vocational school, or other educational institution that clearly indicates the completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program. This program needs to be approved by the State of MN Board of Pharmacy (includes a completed experiential component, under the supervision of a Pharmacist).
Must be licensed by the State of Minnesota as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (renewed yearly).
Must be certified through PTCB (renewed every two years).
20 hours of CE, with one hour in law, are required every two years.
Applicants with at least 2 years experince in a retail pharmacy (with the requirement of passing the PTCB exam within 90 days) may be considered.
