We are looking for a dynamic and effective Community Organizer to grow the Union of Patients. This job is about teaching patients how to advocate for their health, engaging them in legislative and political work, and guiding them to lead their communities to participate.

The Community Organizer works directly with people in a diverse range of communities, whether they are insured, underinsured, or uninsured, to build teams of leaders who are actively fighting for healthcare justice by: growing their membership base, recruiting new leaders, cultivating new teams, and directing the energy of our collective power toward achieving meaningful outcomes for everyone.

If this all sounds good, you will love SEIU-UHW's innovative Community Division which focuses on organizing outside of the workplace to build leadership teams in the community of patients and working families. Our Community Division, or Union of Patients as we refer to it, joins forces with healthcare workers to battle major healthcare issues in the interest of improving the quality of health for all. We firmly believe that to do this, it requires prioritizing issues that disproportionately impact people of color and the working class.
