Description

SUMMARY:

HDT Global is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Engineer role located at our Blade Center in Fredericksburg, VA. This position is resposible for designing, implementing and analyzing parts, sub-systems and systems. Performs engineering tasks with standard techniques. Assists more senior engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computations and reports. Provides guidance to one or more engineers and/or associate engineers and/or interns. Leads continuous improvement initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Incorporates customer requirements into planning and work
  • Designs, develops, analyzes, documents and supports testing of products, systems or subsystems
  • Directs technical activities of assigned CAD designers and technicians
  • Proactively identifies, monitors and mitigates risk
  • Guides work of intern(s) and engineer(s)
  • Leads initiatives
  • Reports progress and status
  • Completes assigned tasks on time and budget while meeting technical requirements
  • Reviews customer specifications and requirements, and under direction develops designs to best support them
  • Understands and drives compliance with requirements
  • Implements design to cost
  • Implements design for manufacture and assembly
  • Implements design for weight
  • Implements design for maintainability
  • Complies with engineering playbook and best practice processes
  • Develops BOEs
  • Participates in preparation of less complex proposals as needed
  • Support, communicate and defend the mission, values and culture of the company
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering from accredited school and engineering work experience or equivalent experience required; MS in Mechanical Engineering or Passed FE exam preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated strong performance record as engineer or equivalent

OTHER JOB RELATED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Works independently on daily tasks; works professionally with teammates and colleagues and independently under supervision of others
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills, quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with customers, vendors, employees and managers at all levels within the company
  • Strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Must be able to read, speak and understand English
