Job Summary:

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences invites applications from college students who have a career interest in nonprofit/fundraising or public administration for a part-time Development Intern position. The position will work in-house in the offices of the Academy Museum, located at 5900 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles, CA under the supervision of the Director of Individual Giving and in support of other staff members. The position will extend for eight weeks from date of hire. Exact schedule will be determined based on availability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
This intern position will assist with researching and identifying potential new donors, processing gifts and donor correspondence, researching content for grant applications, data entry, preparing funder reports, managing phones and assisting with events and projects as assigned. The position requires a person with a high work capacity, respect for confidentiality, and a willingness to take initiative and approach all tasks with a positive outlook. The successful candidate will be an organized, detail-oriented, multi-tasker who is not easily flustered and is able to maintain a pleasant demeanor in all circumstances. The ability to function efficiently as part of the team is of primary importance.

 
Position Requirements
  • Current enrollment in a college-level degree program studying arts or nonprofit management, public administration, film history, art history, communications or a directly-related field.
  • Strong interest in nonprofit, especially development (fundraising) required. Nonprofit experience (through other internships and/or volunteer work) experience preferred.
  • Experience using basic office equipment.
  • PC proficiency and working knowledge of Dropbox, Microsoft Office software (particularly Word and Excel), and various Internet search engines.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or other constituent relationship management software a plus.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills as well as a basic knowledge of arts fundraising.
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to take direction, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong sense of initiative and willingness to take ownership of both small and large projects.
  • Strong research as well as verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work 16-28 hours a week.

This internship is part of the Academy Gold Program, an 8-week summer internship enhancement program that incorporates learning opportunities including an intensive two-day orientation, weekly panels, exclusive networking events, workshops, screenings, and mentorship opportunities with Academy members.
