Provide service delivery that will create service wins for both our internal and external customers.

WORK OBJECTIVE

Under the direction of the Information Technology Director, responsible for the overall security, performance, and reliability of the network infrastructure and systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Primary responsibility is for installation, upgrading and troubleshooting of the City’s personal computers and server infrastructure.
  • Ensure user, system, and network problems involving hardware and/or software are managed and resolved in a timely, professional manner.
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining virtual infrastructure.
  • Perform in depth and routine research, analysis and problem diagnosis, consult with internal and external technical staff as necessary, and repair or replace equipment as necessary.
  • Assists with the system operation and administration of Local Area Network (LANs), Wide Area Network (WAN), I-Series, GIS and other systems.
  • Responsible for installation, upgrading, and troubleshooting of the City’s personal computers and servers.
  • Responsible for monitoring systems and servers to make sure that the equipment is functioning properly and resources are available to people who need them.
  • Recommends and performs training for end-users.
  • Assists in configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting Cisco IP telephone systems and other communication systems.
  • Technical lead in website modifications and updates
  • Works on a team responsible for responding to helpdesk tickets and resolving them in a timely manner.
  • Performs complex troubleshooting, backup, archiving, and disaster recovery.
  • Acts as Team Lead for the purchasing of software, hardware and other IT supplies.
  • Recommends technology changes by staying current in the industry.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or appropriate discipline is required and a minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a network support position
  • Familiarity with I-Series and Microsoft operating systems and applications and Apple products and operating systems.
  • Practical experience with PC & server hardware and software.
  • Practical experience with current desktop environments and configurations.
  • Excellent problem solving/analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Availability for occasional off-hours or weekend tasks.
  • Possession of a valid state of Florida Driver's License

The employee in this position must be able to secure and maintain a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Clearance to include approval for controlled access to protected information.

Exceptions to the minimum qualifications must be reviewed by the Human Resources Director and approved by the City Manager prior to job offer.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical information to City employees of all levels of technical sophistication using patience and tact.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing; ability to follow complex written and oral instructions; extensive contact with end users.
  • Demonstration of willingness to learn, teach and be self-motivated.
  • Skill in diagnosing, repairing and troubleshooting all computer equipment, network related equipment, and peripherals used by the City.
  • Ability to perform Help desk support and troubleshooting for network-related, software, and hardware issues.
  • Skill in assisting employees with varying levels of computer expertise in the operation of software, computers and peripherals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact.
  • Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of officer related equipment, such as, but not limited to telephone, computer, calculator, copier and fax machine.
  • Required to be sufficiently mobile to respond to calls at all supported locations and move heavy computer equipment and peripherals unassisted when necessary.
  • Required to have sufficient mobility to perform duties in small spaces involving crouching, stooping, kneeling and physical ability to perform tasks requiring physical strength and finer dexterity.
  • Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, lifting of light and moderately heavy objects.
