Position Little Dribblers Coach  
Description

POSITION: Little Dribblers Coach

DEPARTMENT: Recreation

REPORTS TO: Recreation Director (or His/Her Designee)

SUPERVISES: Volunteer Helpers

POSITION SUMMARY

The Little Dribblers Coach is responsible for planning, organizing and implementing an appropriate instructional program for students of various ages, grades, abilities and educational and social needs.

MAJOR POSITION DUTIES

  1. Wear clean clothing in good repair, appropriate for the gym.
  2. Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to class time. Punch-in on smartphone app.
  3. Examine and evaluate the safety of the court/gym, surrounding area and equipment.
  4. Set-up gym as necessary for the day's classes
  5. Communicate with students, parents and other staff in a professional manner.
  6. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  7. Plan, prepare and deliver practice plans that facilitate learning the fundamental skills and strategies of the game of basketball.
  8. Provide a variety of activities to facilitate participant learning.
  9. Instruct and monitor participants' use of all equipment.
  10. Monitor participant performance and progress and use the information to adjust coaching strategies.
  11. Provide appropriate feedback to participants (and parents) on performance, progress and needs.
  12. Manage participant behavior by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures. Provide appropriate discipline as needed.
  13. Clean-up the gym at the completion of each day's classes.
  14. Punch-out on smartphone app at the completion of the day's classes.
  15. Report incidents and concerns to the Recreation Director in a timely manner.
  16. Attend all necessary program meetings
  17. Other duties as assigned by the Recreation Director.

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

(ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES)

  1. Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  2. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  4. Advanced knowledge of fundamental skills and strategies of the game of basketball
  5. Ability to follow Kaukauna Recreation Department Time & Attendance procedures.
  6. Prior teaching/coaching experience is preferred.

ENVIONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  1. Ability to stoop, kneel, climb, bend, lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds.
  2. Ability to sustain prolonged visual concentration.
  3. Ability to stand/sit for prolonged periods of time.
  4. Ability to endure a variety of weather and temperature conditions for prolonged periods of time.
