Program Manager - Cyber Physical Systems

Description

STR performs advanced research and development using machine learning, program analysis, optimization, artificial intelligence, and formal methods for the cybersecurity and resiliency of cyber-physical systems. Targeting the hardest security challenges facing our national defense, STR is developing cutting-edge capabilities in cyber-physical systems modeling, vulnerability analysis, and attack detection and remediation. We are growing rapidly and hiring at all levels and across disciplines for new and exciting projects.

We are currently seeking a program manager who is passionate about problem solving through teamwork. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of cyber research and development programs. The program manager is responsible for leadership and execution of all program phases, from ideation, marketing, and proposal development through execution and program close-out. Day to day activities include direct management and oversight of program technical, financial, and schedule performance. The program manager will work with the principal investigator, technical leaders, subcontractors, and support personnel to identify and report potential risks/issues and provide recommendations for solutions. Candidates must be able to manage program performance through review of metrics and program execution milestones; gather, evaluate, and synthesize data from multiple sources (e.g., program reports, program personnel, customer feedback, etc.) to understand and report status/issues and to identify trends in program performance and assess impact. This position requires extensive interaction with external program customers and STR leadership.

Ideal candidates will have significant technical breadth and a demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple, technically-diverse programs and teams. Entrepreneurial candidates with proven experience marketing and winning new projects are strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate scientists, engineers, and technicians across broad areas of expertise

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Build strong customer relationships and establish open lines of communication.
  • Self-starter with the ability to recognize and creatively solve complex problems
  • Adaptability in a highly collaborative and multi-disciplinary environment
  • Experience in proposal writing is a plus
  • Range spanning all project phases, from ideation to technology research and product development, is a plus
  • Working knowledge of DOD acquisition policy and processes
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in STEM related discipline, an advanced technical degree desired
  • 6+ years of experience in Program Management within DoD or IC, and/or functional experience directly supporting program objectives such as managing cost, schedule, and technical performance
  • Existing Secret clearance required, Top Secret desired
  • Occasional travel will be required
