About the Organization Faith Comes By Hearing is an Audio Bible ministry based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Our vision is to get God's Word to every person, and we do this by recording Audio Bibles in every language and freely sharing them using the latest technology. We currently offer recordings in more than 1000 languages spoken by nearly 6 billion people around the world. We are currently seeking an experienced software architect and programmers to join our Technology Development team in sunny Albuquerque, NM. The Software Architect provides technical and team leadership to our Agile programming team, who together design, implement, and maintain desktop, web, and mobile applications. This senior role sees the “big picture,” creates architectural approaches for software design and implementation, makes high level decisions for software development and guides the team. The Software Architect has advanced technical knowledge in all areas of software development, analysis, and design; and possesses an ability to develop a unified technical vision for our software. This person is adept at gathering and understanding requirements, proposing logical and physical architectural directions, able to do proof of concept, as well as be an individual contributor to developing and delivering projects. Collaborates with talented and passionate people with a wide range of skills and international experience to realize a shared vision of making audio Bibles easily accessible to all people in their heart language. Applications include distributed oral translation tools, audio recording tools, content distribution, and other applications as required.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical team leadership
  2. Proactively engage and contribute to team efforts in designing, implementing, deploying, and improving multiple programs and services which integrate globally to fulfill our mission
  3. Propose ideas for improvement based on emerging standards, technologies, and practices - demonstrating a commitment to on-going learning and innovation
  4. Work closely with the Technology Development leadership in a team environment, to help define and implement our system design and technical standards
  5. Guide technical direction and collaborate with the development team to construct integrated solutions
  6. Work with the project team to develop requirement specifications, functional specifications, software architecture, and workflow documentation
  7. Craft high-level and detailed software designs based on requirements and follow through to implementation and unit test
  8. Educate developers on best practices and trends in the industry through mentorship, internal presentations, and workshops
  9. Work with the development team in the design and implementation of core components
  10. Lead architecture and technical design reviews
  11. Take a leading role in defining coding standards and code reviews to ensure a higher quality product
  12. Provide strong technical direction as well as contribute to “hands on” coding efforts
  13. Design, develop, implement and maintain software applications using specified development environments, programming languages and tools
  14. Lead quality assurance activities including code reviews, writing unit tests, and code documentation
  15. Oversight of the testing team to resolve bugs, clarify functionality and resolve software usability issues, with occasional test construction
  16. Analyze databases, and optimize database queries
Position Requirements


  1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or several years of directly related experience
  2. At least 8-10 years in an application development role with demonstrable experience in architecting and designing. This is a hands-on role, the Software Architect will still be programming
  3. Skilled in object-oriented software design and implementation (for instance SOLID principles)
  4. Expert knowledge of programming, database systems, systems analysis and design
  5. Experienced in developing computer applications as layered designs as part of a team (for instance, MVVM and repository patterns, with git or hg distributed version control)
  6. Proficient with multiple computer languages, development environments, and operating systems (example: C#, Java, JavaScript, .NET Core, React, UML, Visual Studio, Eclipse, Window, Linux, and Mac)
  7. Aptitude and initiative to solve complex technical problems with minimal guidance or supervision
  8. Ability to write advanced technical documentation
  9. Expert software debugging and testing knowledge
  10. Ability to articulate advanced technical concepts and teach others
  11. Team player with a helpful here-to-serve attitude
  12. Strong interpersonal skills
  13. Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills
  14. Desire and commitment to learn new skills and technology
  15. Ability to perform work on multiple concurrent projects according to given priorities and deadlines


  1. Experience in mobile application development for Android or iOS
  2. Experience in testing, test driven design, continuous integration and cross-platform environments
  3. Ability to occasionally travel to support field testing or participate in collaborative events
