Job Summary:

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Producer, Science and Technology Program to oversee a major public programming event that illuminates the contributions of science and technology to the motion picture art form. This is a temporary position that reports to the Managing Director, Science and Technology Council.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of SciTech public program presentation, from research and development through booking, promotion, ticketing, reception and show set-ups, talent relations, audience flow, and show format; ensure smooth coordination between theater operations, security and other Academy departments.
  • Work closely with the programming, marketing and publicity department to develop comprehensive promotional strategy and materials.
  • Manage the program budget; maintain accountability for program costs and revenues.
  • Shape program offering to achieve goals of member engagement, diversified participation and outreach, cross-disciplinary exchange, community building and audience appreciation of the history of and advances in motion picture technology.

 
Position Requirements
  • Minimum 8 + years of experience in event production, with an emphasis in science, technology, digital media and/or education or non-profit background.
  • Management experience and demonstrated track record creating, developing, and implementing programming in a technical environment.
  • Understanding of and appreciation for both the art and science of filmmaking.
  • Prior experience managing programs in such event production as CES, TED TALKS, GDC, SIGGRAPH, E3, and other such large and high-quality programs, symposia and events.
  • Ability to collaboratively manage and assist staff in overseeing multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment; talent and experience in building consensus among departments of an organization.
  • Ability to develop budgets, allocate resources, and ensure compliance with administrative and fiscal policies.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
