Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree and two years of case management experience or court-related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required: Affirmation as a Sworn Deputy Clerk of the Court. Valid Georgia Driver’s License.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all county or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.

Preferred Skills: Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) certification

Description

Purpose of Classification:

The purpose of this classification is to perform duties related to managing a court calendar for an assigned Judge within the City of South Fulton Court System. Responsibilities include reviewing case files, tracking cases on a court calendar, and drafting court orders and other documents in support of the Judge.

Essential Functions:

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Manages an assigned judge's court calendar, including scheduling dates and times for hearings, motions, and trials: provides information to attorneys and other concerned parties regarding cases on court calendar; and acts as a liaison between departments and the assigned Judge as required.

Retrieves and returns original papers to the courtroom, monitors and tracks cases on court calendar, and prepares various reports related to assigned cases.

Plans and schedules assigned court calendars for non-jury trials, motions, bond arrangements, and judgments to be entered: and responds to all inquiries, including notifying litigants and attorneys regarding dates and times of court cases.

Performs various duties in the courtroom, such as coordinating paperwork, recording dispositions, and providing technical guidance, and information to attorneys as required.

Updates criminal background information, reports, and dispositions on the computer, and other criminal court systems as required.

Researches and responds to requests of the assigned judge, including preparing appropriate correspondences related to assigned court cases.

Checks the status of inmates and prepares orders for the East Point Jail about court appearances.

Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures: receives and reviews various documentation, including discovery motions, mental health assessments,

traffic reports, warrants, and calendars; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate. Prepares bind overs for State Court and Superior Court.

Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, and other documentation, including court orders and other documents for judge's review and official signature; compiles data for further processing or for use in preparation of department reports; and maintains computerized and/or hardcopy records.

Participates in monthly on-call scheduling for First-Appearance Hearings.

Performs other related duties as required.
