Reference and Public Services Intern, Margaret Herrick Library - Summer 2019

Job Summary:

The Intern duties will include adding both information and images to existing
internal Academy related databases, finding gaps in existing records and clean-up. The
Intern will also receive reference training and will work with patrons in-person at the
reference desk and orientation, as well as provide telephone reference assistance.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Searching library holdings, as well as external sources to add additional or missing information to our library databases.
  • Search photographs to select appropriate images to digitize and add to the Acceptance Speech and RCF database.
  • Create original catalog records in the Academy's data management system, AdLib.
  • Staffing the library's reference and orientation desks as well as providing telephone reference.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a MLIS program.
  • Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies, Art, or an allied field with an interest in film culture.
  • Strong computer skills with database experience and basic cataloging knowledge.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with customer service experience.
  • Ability to lift/move moderately heavy materials (20 lbs.) and other objects to and from high and low shelves and drawers.

This internship is part of the Academy Gold Program, an 8-week summer internship enhancement program that incorporates learning opportunities including an intensive two-day orientation, weekly panels, exclusive networking events, workshops, screenings, and mentorship opportunities with Academy members.
