Description

The Site Facilitator supports the Operations Manager in the daily operation of an offsite Nursery School program. In consultation with the Leader for the Early Learning and Development Program, the Site Facilitator ensures a developmentally appropriate, safe and efficient operation that reflects the importance of Client and Family Centered Care. The Site Facilitator oversees all aspects of the program and together with the nursery school team develops, plans and implements a program that adheres to established standards and procedures. As a member of an interdisciplinary team the Site Facilitator supports the vision, mission and values of the orqanization.

Key Responsibilities

Core Service Delivery

  • Responsible for the day to day operation of the nursery program by ensuring compliance with the Childcare and Early Years Act (licensing compliance), City of Toronto Children's Services Operating Criteria, Toronto Public Health, The College of ECE Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital Policies and Procedures.
  • Supports the team in supporting and advancing the No Boundaries Strategic Plan through visionary planning and decision making

Planning and Continuous Improvement

  • Coordinates and collaborates within a interdisciplinary team including Registered Early Childhood Educator, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, Communicative Disorders Assistant and Administrative staff to ensure best practice in overall service delivery.
  • Guides and models a knowledge and application of theory and practice, consideration of children's needs and children's individual learning styles within the teaching team.
  • Works cooperatively and effectively within the interdisciplinary team to ensure an appropriate and responsive referral process, accurate and equitable information sharing.
  • Collaborates with the Administrative team to ensure efficient and timely management of information, materials and program accountability.

Interpersonal Skills and Challenges and Planning

  • Demonstrates the core principals of Client and Family Centered Care throughout all interactions, initiatives, communication and processes to ensure full partnership with families regarding their individual needs, wishes and expectations.

Supplementary Knowledge

  • Maintains ongoing professional knowledge about the continuum of development and the pedagogy related to early learning, curriculum and program planning.
  • Provides overall guidance, support and direction to nursery school staff by monitoring and reviewing all assessments, IEPs and reports.
  • Implements formal and informal assessment tools and keen observation to design individual educational plans for clients.
  • Supervises, guides and provides leadership to students in field placement work.

Providing Information, Oral and Written Skills

  • Maintains effective written and verbal communication with clients and community partners regarding program philosophy, service delivery, referral process, waitlist maintenance, program changes and development.
  • Maintains up-to-date written and verbal communications with the team regarding all activities and development pertaining to the day-to-day operation.
  • Promotes an atmosphere of openness and flexibility.

Research/Education/Professionalism with Colleagues and Community

  • Facilitates and maintains partnerships with community and external agencies for the benefit and profile of Holland Bloorview Nursery School Program, clients and families.
  • Exemplifies the Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics as set down by the College of Early Childhood Education.

Qualifications

  • A diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Minimum five years of experience working in the field of Early Childhood Education including three years’ experience working with young children with special needs (birth to five)
  • Member in good standing of the College of Early Childhood Education
  • Working knowledge of the Childhood and Early Years Act, The Toronto Operating Criteria An understanding of the Elect Framework
  • Excellent written skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, conflict resolution and problem solving skills
  • Ability to lead, support and work within a team.
  • Ability to effectively manage fluctuating responsibilities while maintaining a core workload
  • Ability to work with families in complex situations and /or from a variety of cultures, values and beliefs.
  • Sensitive to the medical, emotional and social needs of children and their families.
  • Knowledge of program planning for children with special needs
  • Solid knowledge of child development.
  • Solid knowledge of current curriculum frameworks
  • Ability to communicate in all forms, effectively across varied audiences
  • Commitment to learning and professional development
