About the Organization The mission of Fenway Health is to enhance the wellbeing of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBTQIA+) community and all people in our neighborhoods and beyond through access to the highest quality health care, education, research, and advocacy. Fenway Health was founded in 1971 and has grown from a less than 10 person operation in the basement of a building near the Boston Fens to one of the largest LGBT-focused organizations in the world. It consists of three main centers:

• Fenway Community Health Center, our clinical arm, which is a federally qualified health center that operates three clinic sites (Fenway:1340, Fenway:South End, and the Sidney Borum, Jr. Health Center) in the Boston area and provides over 30,000 patients with primary and specialty medical care, behavioral health care, optometry care, and dental care;

• The Fenway Institute, our research/training/education/policy development arm, which houses numerous research initiatives as well as the National LGBT Education Project, the LGBT Aging Project, the National Center for Innovation in HIV Care, and the Center for Population Research in LGBT Health; and

• AIDS Action, our HIV/AIDS service organization, which provides nonclinical services (case management, housing and legal assistance, outreach, peer support) to people living with HIV/AIDS and operates numerous programs focusing on HIV/STD prevention/testing/treatment, including the Access (drug user health program), TransCEND (transgender peer support and risk reduction program), and Youth on Fire (drop-in center for homeless and street-involved youth) programs.

Under the supervision of the Warehouse/Assistant Warehouse Manager, the Key Holder will be responsible for opening, closing, and supervising the Boomerangs Warehouse.

Representative Duties:

  1. Prepares the warehouse for opening including directing other employees in opening cleaning organizational duties and getting set up with tasks.
  2. Prepares the warehouse for closing, directing employees in cleaning duties, reviewing daily goals and benchmarks, and determining whether goals are achieved.
  3. Acts as manager on duty if there is no manager or assistant manager present. This includes directing other employees, maintaining a safe and clean warehouse, and assisting with deliveries. When acting as manager, a key holder is not expected to handle every difficult issue that arises, but is expected to contact the appropriate people for help and properly document any incidents.
  4. Assists in training new employees and acts as a supervisor for department associates.
  5. Provides exceptional team support and alerts supervisors to any warehouse or employee issues in a timely manner.
  6. Helps with cleaning tasks to maintain an neat, safe work environment
  7. Assists with stocking, tidying and organizing the warehouse
  8. Is proactive in pro-active in proposing new organization or workflow strategies to management when necessary
  9. Remains familiar with and follows store policies and procedures as well as general company policies.
  10. Engages in loss prevention duties as needed, in accordance with training from Warehouse Manager
  11. Encouraged to recognize and research potentially valuable donations and deliver them to the proper employee or designated space until value is determined and sales strategy established.
  12. Responsible for the following duties including but not limited to: sorting clothing and other non-textile donations into the proper categories, pricing of textiles, hard-goods, accessories, jewelry and other merchandise; tagging and hanging clothing on racks; stocking, shelving, recording and keeping track of back stock and inventory, as well as general housekeeping and light maintenance duties.
  13. Any warehouse employee who uses the Boomerangs transportation to and/or from work must abide by all shuttle rules and Massachusetts State seat belt laws.

  • Adhere to established safety policies, procedures and precautions; enforce agency’s policies, including safety and crisis procedures.
  • Attend all required meetings, in-services and professional trainings
  • Maintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activities

Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly Rate: $14.00/hr

Position Requirements


  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to act as manager on duty if manager is not available
  • Ability to work independently on tasks as needed and manage time effectively
  • Ability to exhibit courteous behavior on and off site while working and maintain a positive relationship with all staff and management regardless of rank
  • Ability to monitor benchmarks, shift priorities, and direct others to meet daily, weekly, and monthly goals
  • Knowledge of current retailers, both discount and high end, preferred
  • Friendly, outgoing demeanor and positive attitude
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to communicate in English. Additional languages a plus
  • Flexible availability, including occasional weekends and holidays
  • Basic knowledge of HIV/AIDS and sensitivity to issues surrounding the HIV/AIDS epidemic

Physical Requirements:
Ability to meet the following physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodations:

  • Ability to lift 40+lbs
  • Ability to stand, lift, bend, pivot, stack and be mobile for the majority of ones shift
  • Ability to see and comprehend visual cues such as but not limited to size tags, color of garments, stains, damages etc.
  • Ability to squeeze and operate a trigger based tagging and pricing gun.

Supervisory Responsibility:
Supervises Warehouse Associates when manager is unavailable.
