POSITION SUMMARY

The Film & Media Production Specialist provides instruction and supervision to participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities through all aspects of film and media production.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for training and supporting participants in learning and practicing the elements of filmmaking, including pre/post-production, acting, directing, editing, technical support, sound design, set design and filming per standards used in the professional filmmaking industry.
  • Provide supervision to Film & Media Program participants during program hours, internship opportunities and while on production locations.
  • Enter and track participant data in Case Magic related to ISP goals and objectives and complete participant case notes daily.
  • Manage inventory, maintenance and condition of Film and Media Program equipment.
  • Support students in direct internship/employment opportunities, as needed, to meet the program's needs.
  • Support participants by implementing vocational training in the areas of advocacy, appropriate behavior, communication, computer training, cultural events, health and safety awareness, independent living skills, job skills, mobility, community integration, personal care training, social skills, technical support, and other designated skills.
  • Maintain office, program and production sites, keeping them neat and organized.
  • Assist with maintenance of the work facility and premises, as applicable.

Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • Knowledge in specific program areas and/or experience in teaching in film-related field.
  • 2+ years’ experience in digital film production, processes and techniques (e.g. storytelling, act, art design, screenwriting, producing, directing, camera, lighting, editing).
  • Art design, wardrobe design, and set building experience (preferred).
  • Direct, hands-on experience working with individuals with a variety of disabilities within the human services, education or a related field (preferred).

Required Skills

  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Professional English writing ability, including usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
  • Ability to conduct staff meetings and trainings.
  • Proficient use of basic office equipment, Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multitask, organize information and prioritize activities.
  • Ably to sew and operate a sewing machine (preferred).

Other Requirements

  • Immediate access to vehicle with working seatbelts, valid driver’s license, current auto insurance and acceptable DMV record.
  • Ability to travel within and throughout the county in which services are provided.
  • Ability to travel in and throughout the state on a quarterly basis to attend meetings, trainings, etc.
  • Successful completion of drug screen, credit check and background check.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires the employee to regularly stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. They must be capable of writing, using a computer keyboard, telephone and related office equipment. Ability to lift 25lbs and transfer 75lbs required.

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The employee will be working in community environments, employment sites and office environments. The employee will experience normal office conditions with a well-lighted work area and minor noise from standard office equipment. Exposure to blood borne pathogens could occur when administering first aid to participants. Hepatitis B vaccines are offered at no cost to each employee.

Wage

$19.75 - $21.40 per hour + benefits.
