Pay Rate $16.31/hr.  
Description

SUMMARY
Performs light maintenance work at the South Bend Public Works Service Center, assists in routine secretarial assignments when needed, and does related work as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.
• Scrubs and washes floors, walls, and windows.
• Waxes, seals and buffs floors.
• Vacuums carpets, dusts and cleans when necessary.
• Cleans toilets, sinks and entire restroom areas.
• Checks and keeps accurate inventory of cleaning supplies, and performs ordering of supplies when needed.
• Performs and maintains scheduling tasks of Public Works Facility conference rooms.
• Substitutes for radio room dispatcher when needed.
• Performs computer input when required.
• Does interior and exterior painting as needed.
• Performs other cleaning and maintenance responsibilities as assigned.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Performs computer input of work orders and other inquiries received when required.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• High School diploma or equivalent education.
• Prefer experience in custodial/janitorial operations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
• Ability to perform strenuous work in extremely adverse weather conditions.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies, contents contained, and proper use of cleaning supplies.
• Ability to learn routine tasks quickly and to follow oral instructions.
• Ability to maintain an appropriate public appearance and to deal tactfully and congenially with the public.
• Basic knowledge of the Sungard/Public Sector/Naviline program and Microsoft computer programs such as Excel and Word, and knowledge of sending and receiving e-mail through Microsoft Outlook.
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Ability to perform strenuous work and multi-task responsibilities when necessary

Brooms, mops, floor scrubber/buffer, carpet cleaner.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required in this job include vision and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office setting and outdoors. The noise level in the office environment is usually quiet and moderately loud in the field. The employee may be exposed to cold, wet, and humid conditions. Smoke free environment.
