The Truck Mechanic will inspect, perform preventative maintenance & repair heavy & light duty rolling stock. This position is based in Anchorage and will primarily support Dutch Harbor. This position will also assist other Western Alaska Sites (Bethel & Dillingham). This rotational position requires travel 90% of the time.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
Maintains service logs and records of maintenance on vehicles and motorized equipment using fleet maintenance and management software.
Prepares work orders and costs estimated for materials and labor.
Keeps tools, equipment and work areas clean, organized and in good working condition.
Maintains inventory of supplies needed and used.
Performs preventative maintenance on equipment. Maintains on-board spill kits and safety equipment.
Diagnos problems, repairs, replaces, and reassembles parts including brakes, cooling systems, drive trains, electrical, exhaust and emissions, heating and air conditioning, hydraulic, air, steering and suspension and coupling devices.
Travels independently to remote facilities to do annual DOT inspections. Installs, maintains and repairs tanks, pumps, and meters at these or customer locations. Travels to Anchorage or other locations for training and meetings.
Road tests vehicles.
Attends safety meeting and follows Safety Management System.
