Description

The Energy Management Department in Cupertino, CA, has an internship positions available for qualified PhD candidates. The internship project focuses on designing multi-mode energy management solutions for energy storage systems to provide both behind and front the meter services such as peak shaving and electricity market participation. The internship project includes research on optimal participations of aggregators in the day ahead and real time electricity and ancillary markets. Successful candidate is expected to develop a practical and effective energy management framework for a group of battery storage systems operates together to provide grid services in addition to the demand peak shavings.

 
Position Requirements

• PhD candidate in EE/CS or related field
• Excellent programming skill (preferably Python) is a must
• Solid knowledge of the multi-settlement electricity market operations
• Basic knowledge about the operation of BTM battery storage systems
• Experience in applying machine learning techniques, such as neural networks and deep learning

Desired Skills:
• Knowledge of linear, mix integer and convex optimization techniques
• Experience in the time series forecasting (preferably load, PV and LMP forecasting)
