Share Email Opening Title Network Engineer (RDT&E)  Description About the Position Specialty Systems, Inc. has immediate openings for a Network Engineer with the below described skills and experience to join our team of technical professionals supporting our Department of Defense customer at the Joint Base MDL-Lakehurst. You will be working as part of the Integrated Battlespace Simulation and Test Department, supporting the RDT&E network at NAVAIR Lakehurst. Ideal candidates will have a broad set of technical skills and must be able to work both individually and within a team environment. As a member of our team you will be able to experience the professional satisfaction of playing a key role in ensuring that our Department of Defense customers’ systems that have a direct impact on our country’s war-fighting and peace-keeping capabilities are performing at optimal levels. This position is located at our customer site location at Joint Base MDL-Lakehurst. In this position, you will work our customer’s Compressed Work Schedule which consists of working four 9 hour days (M-Th) and an 8 hour day (F) for the first week of a cycle followed by four 9 hour days (M-Th) and being off on the second Friday for the second week of a cycle. This results in a 3 day weekend every other week! Job responsibilities will include: Maintain integrity of the Network Backbone Infrastructure and provide support for both wired and wireless networks Provide technical support by evaluating and resolving network problems Evaluate network performance using hardware and software diagnostic tools Ability to work independently to install new hardware from box to production in rack Maintain network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendors. Installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls. Design network improvements and upgrades by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols. It is preferred that at least 1 year of this experience be on Department of Defense IT systems. A BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred. An additional 4 years of directly related work experience will be accepted as a substitution for the degree requirement for highly qualified individuals. Comptia Security+ certification (or the ability to obtain this certification within 30 days of hire) is required. CCNA or equivalent associate level certification or higher or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment. Must have an active Top Secret Security Clearance. Technical experience in the following: Network Backbone Infrastructure Hardware: Brocade, Cisco, and/or Juniper switches and routers, and Aruba access points Network Management Tools: SolarWinds Network Management Suite, Aruba Mobility Controllers, Clearpass Access Control, Wireshark for packet analysis General experience with ACLs, 802.1x, TCP-IP, OSPF, SSH, DNS, DHCP, and Network Diagramming with Visio General experience with network switches, routers, network firewalls, IPS/IDS, and SEIM General experience installing and troubleshooting wired network connections (UTP and Fiber) Desired Qualifications: Manage networking environment; designing system configuration, supporting system installation, documenting system standards Manage network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades Secure network system by establishing and enforcing policies, defining and monitoring access   Salary Range This position has a salary range of between $70,000 and $100,000, based on the candidate's match to the skill and experience levels required.   Travel Requirements   COVID-19 Vaccine Requirements   Location Toms River Office   EOE Statement Office of Federal Contract Compliance Program Notice: EEO/AA Minorities/Women/Disabled/Veteran status/all protected classes/VEVRAA Federal Contractor.
