Systems Administrator

Responsible for installing, configuring, and supporting Windows servers and applications in an enterprise environment. Verifies that server and client operating systems, firmware, applications, and layered products are up to date running the latest approved patch levels. Supports various server hardware platforms including rack mount and blade servers. Manages Active Directory domain objects including user accounts, trusts, and GPOs. Troubleshoots hardware and software issues and works with vendors to resolve any issues. Coordinates warranty, contract, and self-maintenance repairs. Manages network security functions and applications such as endpoint security, mail filtering software, etc. Ensures backup and disaster recovery systems are in place and working. Manages e-mail servers and mail filtering appliances. Strong scripting and automation skills preferred. Interfaces with programmer and user community to insure timely and accurate hardware and software deployment. Develops proactive hardware and software diagnostic procedures to help in early identification of problems and improve systems and network uptime. Researches and recommends hardware and software solutions to management. Obtains working knowledge of HTC’s computing environment as well as security procedures. Must be able to work independently while also when required be able to work in a team. Needs to be able to communicate effectivity both in written and oral format. This position will require the employee to participate in an on-call rotation. Must adhere to information security policies at all times. Executes all assignments within HTC’s guidelines and procedures. Strives to recognize changes that may improve existing systems or procedures and provides these to the assigned supervisor. Assists in other areas of the Information Services Department as needed. Performs other duties as assigned in order to meet the overall objectives of the department.

Position Requirements

Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or equivalent experience. Minimum of two to six years related experience and/or training. (This position is expected to be filled as a Network Administrator II, Systems Administrator, or Senior Systems Administrator; depending on the skill, knowledge and ability of the selected applicant.)

Job Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of complex computer operations. Proficiency in Windows Server 2008R2/2012/2016 operating systems to include native clustering technology, Active Directory, and certificate authorities. Understanding of basic networking including subnets, routing, and VLANS. Knowledge and understanding of server and desktop virtualization using VMware as the hypervisor. Experience in using PowerShell to script and automate tasks. Prefer experience with Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp, Exchange, SharePoint, SCCM, Skype, DHCP, WSUS and SQL.

Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear and lift up to 25 pounds. Vision Requirements: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less). Working Conditions: Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. May spend up to 5 percent of time in improperly illuminated or awkward and confining work spaces and working above ground level where the possibility of falling exists (i.e. on ladders, rooftops and bucket trucks).Could also work near moving mechanical parts, be at risk of electrical shock and exposed to moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic). Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily technical nature.

Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air. Work schedule requirements are usually consistent from week to week. Work schedule requirements may consist of flexible hours, call-out, call-in, and shift work. Handles and maintains confidential and/or sensitive information. Due to maintenance windows, may be required to work at night, on weekends, and holidays.
