Project Engineer Job Summary:

The Construction Project Engineer (PE) will support Project Managers (PM) and will work from the Irvine, CA office. The PE will support all aspects of Department of Defense (DoD) military construction projects to include proposals, pricing, project kickoff, execution, and closeout. Primary clients will be US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Various US Air Force Installations, and NAVFAC EXWC. Approximately 15% travel is expected to support the PM in accomplishing pre-bid site visits, regular project site visits, and client engagement.

The Project Engineer will be responsible for:
• Supports the PM as a project team member to assist with all proposal efforts and pre-construction submittals including preparation of Accident Prevention Plans (APP), Quality Control (QC) Plans, project schedules, vendor set-up, procurement, subcontract development, Request of Information (RFI) development and tracking, product data submittals, prepare and submit testing reports, operations and maintenance manuals, and all required close-out documentation.
• PE will assist in identifying and managing scope gaps, update the project schedule, prepare monthly invoices, and monitor the project budget to ensure DAWSON’s commitments and financial goals are met.
• Follow the common vision set by the PM and work in concert with colleagues, subcontractors, and team members to be successful by attaining goals and making individual contributions to a project.
• Consistently meets or out-performs planned project profitability and metrics on projects with moderate risk.
• Supports quality and H&S to achieve zero accidents and ensure quality goals are met.
• Supports a collaborative work environment.
• Effectively implements a stakeholder engagement plan to build trust at all levels.
• Supports timely and accurate submittal of invoices. Actively learns to monitor and report the status of invoices and payments due.
• Assists with proposal efforts, including costing and profitability planning.

 
Position Requirements

Project Engineer Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, an engineering field (civil, mechanical, electrical), architecture, or equivalent construction experience.
  • Construction or Engineering experience working with DoD, Federal Government or Military clients strongly preferred
  • The following certifications are preferred but not required:
    • First Aid/CPR
    • Quality Control Management (QCM) Course (USACE or Navy)
    • EM 385-1-1
    • OSHA 30 Hr
