The following are typical duties for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Maintain records of materials and supplies, including receipt and disposition. This includes coordinating inventory requirements and procedures with the line and water departments. Run integrity checks to ensure accuracy of the system.
Analyze list of parts needed for line department work orders, add missing items that need to go with requested parts, verify items listed are compatible, and that we have enough inventory in stock. Place orders for appropriate amounts of new inventory in a timely manner to ensure the job can proceed as intended.
Manage testing and disposal of both PCB contaminated and non-PCB transformers, prepare disposal paperwork and maintain proper legal disposal records.
Assist in the record keeping functions with regard to the company transformer database for the Electric Department.
Maintain minimum transformer stock levels and coordinate the delivery and issuance of transformers from inventory. Assist in rigging for the crane operator at delivery.
Clean, label, and store transformers properly within company and industry guidelines.
Work with WPPI to maintain functionality of the joint purchasing database.
Coordinate and oversee outgoing shipments, including packaging, paperwork, and arrangement with shipping vendors.
Initiate purchase requisitions for replenishing stock and prepare periodic reports on materials and stock use. Coordinate and prepare purchase orders for new inventory and other storeroom materials and supplies.
Compare incoming shipments against packing slips and purchase orders in order to maintain conformance to written purchase orders by suppliers.
Unload and manage receipt of all deliveries. Stock inventory in designated storage areas in order to utilize a first in / first out inventory rotation system. Deliver all other shipments to appropriate departments.
Perform year-end inventory counts according to standard and company inventory practices.
Transport, load and unload materials and supplies for the Utility. This also includes trucking materials as directed to and from utility crews, contractors and other utilities.
Keep storeroom clean and orderly and perform related work as required.
Operate storeroom equipment and utility vehicles, including back hoe, digger derrick, bucket truck, fork lift, skid steer and/or other large equipment when necessary. Operate trimmers, mowers, chain saws and other small mechanical equipment when necessary.
Duties relevant to lawns/grounds/general building maintenance will consist of lawn restoration, plowing snow, salting facility roadways, snow removal, trash removal, cutting grass, trimming trees and bushes, brush removal, repairing fences and gates, cleaning and painting facilities, cleaning tools and equipment, cleaning and sweeping floors and general maintenance duties.
Perform traffic control for other departments on occasion when necessary.
Assist other departments reading meters, support with electrical disconnects, pick-up and delivery of materials, helping with water main breaks as needed, maintenance functions, and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
