Learn practical, on-the-job experience as a Survey Intern at Bolton & Menk! As an intern you will spend the majority of your time working on survey crews with an experienced crew chief. You will assist with boundary surveys, construction staking, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys and GPS data collection. The emphasis will be on construction staking with occasional time spent in the office performing general clerical and/or survey duties. You will get experience with Trimble, Robotic Total Station and GPS equipment in this internship. This position interacts with staff, land owners, contractors and sub-contractors.
The selected candidates will be enrolled in a Civil Engineering Technician, Land Surveying or Survey Technology Degree, or related field, from an accredited post-secondary institution. General coursework in, and completion of, general surveying and AutoCAD drafting are preferred.
Requirements
- The ability to work in extended outdoor conditions is required
- Students must possess a valid class D driver's license and be insurable under the firm's standard rates. A check of the candidate's motor vehicle record will be conducted as part of orientation.
- Must be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for the purpose of performing the duties outlined above.
Each year we look for variety of experience, education and ability for our student intern pool. Some positions may be filled with students who have previous experience depending on the level of complexity a project or client may require. Preference may be given to students who have completed a previous internship with Bolton & Menk, Inc.
